15 litre demijohn

    Hi all again, another question, I have a water cooler bottle that is 15 litres and want to do a small brew of brewferm gold that makes 12 litres , I have adapted the bottle from help on here to take an airlock , is this ok to use as my fermenting bucket is being used , can I just use it as normal ,many help appreciated , thanks in advance

    Glass or plastic would be an issue. If its glass, I think everyone would say yes, that its fine to use it. If its plastic, some would be concerned about the type of plastic, leeching, and oxygen permeability.

    Ah right, it is plastic , although my fermentation bucket is plastic and I have done cider in plastc ??

    Check the bottom of the demijohn...there should be a recycle code on it..looks like a triangle and has a number in the middle. If it has a 1 in there, it should be fine. Most likely it has a 7 and I have read that is not good.
