    Title says it all.

Bought my wife everything she needs for one gallon batches except for a pot.
What would be a good proper size for the boil kettle and type given the
    GLASS ELECTRIC STOVE TOP

Also any information on keeping with the all grain tradition with such a small batch is greatly appreciated. Ever since we went all grain on my rig, we have not looked back. She would prefer to stay all grain even with the 1 gal batches.

IME, you need at least 20% headspace or so in your kettle to be able to make a certian size batch in the fermenter. I would get a 1.5-2 gallon kettle

An 8qt stockpot (2 gallons) works well. She'll have more than one gallon of liquid to boil to get one gallon into the fermenter. On the plus side, you might already have that in your kitchen, since it's a fairly typical pot size for pasta/soups.

Good luck to both of you with your brewing adventures!

at least double the actual boil volume in my opinion. So if your boiling 1.5 gallons to end up with 1 after an hour (and as an example I have to boil 13.8 gallons to end up with 11 after an hour) I would get a 3 gallon pot....especially inside as a boil over on the stove royally sucks.

3 gallon pot BIAB, put the pot in the warm oven to maintain mash temps. Colander on top of pot to drain bag or sparge a little if needed. Chill in the sink. Keep it simple KISS.

That looks like a very nice pot...didn't see any dimensions? I tend to like my kettles at least as tall as wide...kinda like women lol
That pot appears a bit short.

Minimum 1-1 height to width as a rule of thumb.

Edit...that pot is 11w x 7t...I would prefer more slender JMO.

A nice quality pot no doubt, perhaps not my taste...

With a glass top stove, if the pot is wider than the element, the stove top will overheat and shut off on a cycle for a time and pulse on every 15-20 seconds per minute, kinda annoying and will be slow to heat. Best not to have a pot much larger than the heating surface on the glass top. Just my experience.

Hopefully you didn't buy yet. (Or can use Amazon easy returns). Check these out. I can personally say these are awesome pots, plus you get two sizes. Great for doing a dunk sparge in the smaller pot. Thick steel, very sturdy. Big one has lots of room, no boil overs. Good stuff. You can check reviews by others here for these pots. Search "concord" kettle.
