Hi,

I'm prepping for my 3rd batch now. I have been sampling batch #2 (an IPA) lately, and I really enjoy it. The recipe post is here. As you can see, that brew day was a disaster, and the malt profile won't be easily recreated. However, I'm loving the hop profile, and I'd like to make a lighter beer based on it. I also washed and saved the yeast, so I'll be making a starter from that.

I've been looking through the recipe section at different grain bills, and arrived at the following recipe (pretty much a straight rip of Yooper's house pale). I'm splitting the batch with a friend who has been on a Kolsch kick, so I thought the inclusion of a good bit of vienna/munich might make him happy. As to the volumes and such, we're going to be splitting this into two 6.5 gal fermenters (one for each of us), but the brewpot can only safely boil 8.5 gallons or so, so I'm going to have to do some topping up. Thoughts?

If topping off, your estimated hop efficiency will be approx. 20% less than originallly anticipated. I would suggest attaining 95% of your bittering from the 60 min addition, and then blasting it with hops at 5/0/DH.

I don't see estimated FG or abv% here.

Dropped the 2 row to 9 lbs to drop OG a bit, to 1.052. Estimated FG is 1.011, ABV 5.4%
