    149$ hisense 4.4 fridge

I seriously considered that Hisense model the last time it was on sale. Went to the store and measured the interior, but of course I didn't save the measurements. IIRC, it would not fit two of my converted ball locks. Finally decided to just bite the bullet and get a proper three tap kegerator...

What water to use to brew

First of all, plenty of beginners brew their first few kit batches with their tap water and make drinkable beer. Second, chlorine is not good for beer but fortunately is easy to remove from tap water with sodium metabisulfite, also known as campden tablets. Third, the starting pH of your water...

    O2 and yeast

If you're using dry yeast you really don't need to oxygenate the wort. There are a few different ways to pitch dry yeast, which you can find described at the manufacturers' websites. The two most common are sprinkling on top of the wort once it is in the fermenter and at the appropriate...

Advice on how to enjoy homebrewing over the years without becoming an alcoholic.

Yes. I think that is exactly the point. Sorry, what? A hereditary component is by definition to do with genes.

    Picnic Tap 2.1

I think the concern is damaging the tap. I like mine well enough, but they really don't look like they're built to handle that kind of pressure. You could try asking Trong at his website. He's usually very responsive and I'm sure he will give you an honest answer.

Kegging into a commercial keg from plastic fermenter

If OP already bought one of those then he might as well get a couple of these to go with it. Can still purge the keg with fermentation gas and do a gravity closed transfer (assuming the bucket has a spigot). Maybe not perfect, but pretty good.

Zinc usage - amount for healthy fermentation

Interesting. Guess gluconate is too good a chelating agent? Maybe the amino acids are too? Chemistry was a long time ago.

Kegging into a commercial keg from plastic fermenter

Not sure what you mean by this. Is it a tri-clamp lid that has ball lock posts and a dip tube? If so then you should be able to purge it and do a closed transfer pretty easily. A picture is worth a thousand words. Not sure what you've read, but if you want to fully carbonate the beer in the keg...

Zinc usage - amount for healthy fermentation

I notice that a lot of dietary zinc supplements are the gluconate. Is there any reason not to use those? I found one zinc glycinate product. Added benefit - nitrogen. Pricey though.

What I did for beer today

Nice. All it needs is a nice honey maple stain and about 17 coats of poly.

Is it just me or are bottled conditioned Homebrew better than kegged?

Beer sales for off-premises consumption are about 30% higher than beer sales for on-premises consumption (in the US anyway). And some of what is consumed on-premises is bottled or canned. Bottled beer dominates the global market, with close to 50% of sales. And then consider that about 25% of...

Gee whiz, what are you guys doing for corn these days?

Flaked maize is $2/lb at my LHBS. I guess that's kinda pricey for corn flakes, but at least it ain't $6.

Beer kits in a can…. Anyone else?

Confirming freshness is great. But what do we do if we confirm staleness? Besides cry in our beer, that is. :)
