Einbeck is best known as the inspiration for Bock beer, based on strong, dark, malty lagers brewed there in the 14th to 17th century.

However, Bock beers reached their full development in Munich, and for brewers emulating the modern styles, and especially the Bock variants such as Doppelbock and Heller Bock that were developed in Munich, the brewing water characteristics of that city are more relevant.
