Default How much Sugar for Apfelwein?

I'm getting ready to make up a batch of EdWorts Apfelwein, but I have one quick question before I get started. The recipe says to use 5 gallons of apple juice and 2 lbs of sugar. I however, have no way to measure by weight. Roughly how many cups of corn sugar equal 2 lbs?

Thanks in advance.

I am Making a batch today as well and had the same question. For priming isn't it 5 oz or 3/4 cup....so 2 lb is 32 oz... that would make it 4.8 cups. Does that sound right?

IIRC 8oz (1/2 lb) in 1 cup. So..

1 lb = 2 cups

2 lbs = 4 cups

At least, those are the numbers I use in regular daily kitchen conversions.

Cheers,

Tyson

I believe that is for cane sugar, not corn sugar (dextrose).

2 3/4 cups should equal 1lbs. Unless of course my scale is wrong. (which is possible)

Well, I put it all together, and I added 6 cups sugar to 4.5 gallons of apple juice. I got an OG of 1.054.
