If I have a ton of hops, I strain though a colander going into the fermenter after the wort is cooled. If it's just a regular beer(not more than 2-3 ounces of hops), I just dump it all in the fermenter. I don't remove anything. I don't use hops bags.

If I had a counterflow chiller, or something that could clog, I'd probably have to rig up something. But I just have an ordinary brew pot, with an immersion chiller, so I just pour it into the primary.

I just dump it all into the fermenter. The worst that can happen is too much hop goodness.

I use this process when my wort is cooled, as i transfer it to my primary, before pitching. The flow through the colander visually appears to help with airation
