Default Highest OG Ale?...

I am not very good at putting together recipes and am fairly new to homebrewing (right around a year), but I was wondering what the highest original gravity ale you know of? I am looking to make a very high gravity high alcohol beer to attempt to have ready for Christmas 2009. What style and if possible a recipe for extract?

Drinking beer while making beer is possibly the best idea ever had by a human.

Barleywines are probably the best style to look at.

You'll have an easier time if you don't stick to the "All-grain" portion and instead just keep stepping it up with Dry malt extract mixed in a bit of water and boiled to sanitize.

Anyway current commercial recordholder is Sam Adams with Utopias at 24% Abv. I don't think it is a lager.
