I've seen pictures of Cornies with a hole and lock in a modified cap, but wouldn't it just work to pop a liquid line on the "out" post (sans the tapper) and run that into a filled bucket, as a blow off tube? Obviously you would have to store it upside down.

Has anyone done this? Am I missing something?

Why store it upside down? Just put the line on the gas in.

I use cornies as overflow fermenters...but only on small beers. There is not enough head space to allow for much krausen. I use them more often as secondary clearing tanks.

Just remove the gas post and fit a vinyl hose over the stump for a blow off.

No reason to invert the keg.

Use Fermacap drops.

Oh...and just get a lid and take the popoff out and put your air lock in that.

You can also get a corny lid with a petcock barb here, 4th item down the list.
