Ive read on here and on other boards that late DME addition is key if you want the hop flavors. Can someone relate on this topic? I was thinking of adding in 3 lbs at the start and then the other 3 with 20 mins left. People said they have had troubles when they add the DME that they lose their boil and then it takes another 10 mins to get the boil back. I will be doing a 3 gallon batch on the electric stove. Boiling is not too great on that. Thanks for your help in advance.

Usually, late extract additions are done to prevent caramelizing and keep your beer from getting too dark. And yes, you will get lower hop extraction when boiling concentrated wort, but you do need some sugars for proper extraction. I'd suggest adding half your DME at the start of your boil and the other half toward the end.
