I think the lots of tape markings would work the best, that way I can just yell out to someone the black on black or something. Would Electrical or Painters tape hold up best to being soaked in acid or oxygen cleaners?

Same here. On the rubber top I wrote a large "I" on the gas side and an "O" on the beer side with a white paint marker. It's easy to see and makes set up quick and painless.
