Default who needs a trellis when you have a tree

Check this out. When you use what you have you do amazing things. This guys used a Douglas fir as the trellis.

here is a pic of the set up followed by the webpage with descriptions.

Maybe I should move the Sunbeam up slope. The shade would be good for it.

Remember one unassailable statistic, as explained by the late, great George Carlin: "Just think of how stupid the average person is, and then realize half of them are even stupider!"

I love this approach to use what's already there. Gives me ideas!

Originally when I was getting ready to make a trellis, was thinking...man what am I gonna use? So, I cut down a few trees for my poles and ran high tensile fence wire through them (which I had laying around). It seems to be working great. I sunk them about 4'.

Brew what you like. Do this, and you will find your inner brewer.

Wow, GREAT solution! So do the roots of the tree present any problems for the hop vines?

I've been thinking about doing this up the side of a River Birch I have. But I suspect that it would be a PITA come harvest time. But on the other hand I think it would look awesome.
