I would like to brew a rather simple AG Amber.

Any suggestions?

Naively, I am thinking of taking a single malt+single hop beer recipe as found around the forum, and just adding one more grain (crystal or such?) to make it an Amber, or American brown..?

Here's my house amber ale....It tastes almost spot on like Bell's Amber Ale...I've played around with it to match the SRMS of Bell's but all the experiments I've made DON'T live up to this recipe, so I am sticking to this one for my haus amber from now on...

It is amazing the flavor that comes from only 2 malt ingredients.

Converted via Beersmith to AG

Rest of info follows:

Recipe Type: Extract w/ grains.

Boiling Time (Minutes): 60
Color: copper to red-brown
Primary Fermentation (# of Days & Temp): 14 Days at 65 degrees

Grain Bill
1.5 lbs. Munton’s Crystal 60l
6 lbs. Amber Dme.

Boil & Hops
2.0 oz Cascade 5.9 % at 60 min.
1.0 oz. Cascade 5.9% at flameout.

If you like the Bells amber, and want to go for a match, you could use Centennial hops, which are used pretty exclusively in their beers iirc. Good stuff!

It's amazing what a nice Single Malt and Single Hop recipe can do! My best beer was a blonde SMaSH, but now you've got me thinking it's time for an amber .

Let me know how it turns out, I just converted it for you last week using beersmith, so I haven't done it this way yet.
