Default Dirty Water Brews Porter Square

I'm brewing this today. It's a gorgeous day here and once I got my chores done it was time for some fun. The last two or three times I've made this I add 16 ounces of fresh brewed Starbucks Espresso to the keg at kegging time. Fortunately, we have a really nice espresso maker at home so I only have to buy the beans, if you had to buy the espresso brewed at Starbucks it would triple the cost of the brew!

Got a gravity of 1070 on this yesterday, which is odd because the last 4 times I've made it I was just under 1060. I don't think I did anything different, my volumes were dead on, my temps were within a degree and my time was the same. That always stumps me when it happens. You do the same thing as always and get a different result, in this case a pretty big difference.

Proving once again that brewing is as much art as science.

You crush your own grain?
Grain from a different source?

Nope, same grain source crushed in the same crusher set at the same setting. Like I said, nothing was different.

Well obviously something was different. And I was stone sober.
