I was wondering how to reduce my heat loss during transfers and found a few pictures of The Pol and his setup. Similar to what I was thinking and he took it a step further and cut a notch for his sparge arm(Brilliant!!!). My concern is about a pressure build up in the cooler while it is filling or will there not be enough for it to be a problem?

I doubt the cooler is airtight enough for pressure to build up; if I'm wrong (wouldn't be the first time) you could lossen the lid a little during transfers, drill a tiny hole to let air out, install a releif valve similar to those found on corny kegs...

My 10 gal coolers (Rubbermaid) have a small rubber vent in the lid to allow for pressure changes inside the cooler.
