I realize my brewing books are lacking, so I've been
wandering over to the AG threads, and trying to figure
out the processes involved...... over that of extract.
I suppose I'm going to shoot for partial mash until
I have a keggle with a false bottom.

What I'm curious about is how you guys are
coming up with these % values you call efficiency.
What exactly is the mark for?

Thanks

Efficiency is the percentage of the theoratical maximum extraction of sugars from a pound or pounds of grain. There is a nice explanation here >> http://www.homebrewtalk.com/wiki/index.php/Efficiency
After reading the article and you are more confused ask some more questions. It takes a bit for the process to make sense and if you brew all grain some brewing software is desirable.

Also, see http://www.homebrewtalk.com/wiki/index.php/Malts_Chart to get the extract potential for most of the common malts.
