Default Can I ferment an ale from a wine yeast?

I'm currently fermenting a batch of hard lemonade which i used montrachet red wine yeast. I got this crazy idea to repitch a blonde ale on top of the used lemonade cake.

I'd probably leave roughly a half inch to an inch of fluid above the yeast cake then pour the blonde wort on top.

has anyone used a wine yeast to ferment a beer?

Wine yeast will probably dry out a beer too much, unless you do something to ensure you have a lot of unfermentables in your wort.
