Default Abv?

I was thinking about doing a mead. Just wondering what is the average ABV?

12% to 25% or better depending on the amount of honey used. Some recipes are small and quick with 3#s per gallon up to some real biggies at 5#s per gallon.

Just remember the higher the ABV the longer the ageing needed - Mead (like 'country' wine) can't be rushed
