I will be in the Canton, OH area in a couple of weeks. I am always looking for a good brewery to check out and have dinner at if possible. Does anyone have any suggestions for that area? Also, any suggestions on good beers to pickup and bring back home in that area?

Also, I will be driving from Rochester, NY to & from Canton, OH. So any suggestions in the Erie, PA and/or the Cleveland, OH areas would be great too! Thanks in advance!

I grew up in NE Ohio and frequent there. You should definitely check out:

Fat Heads in North Olmsted:
http://fatheadscleveland.com/

Great Lakes Brewing:
https://www.greatlakesbrewing.com/brewpub

Market Garden: (Across from Great Lakes)
http://marketgardenbrewery.com/

Once you're near Great Lakes and Market Garden you'll find several other Pico/Nano breweries in the area.

Good beers to take home: Look for Plumbers Crack from Black Box. The owner was my neighbor growing up.

Outside of the beer scene I suggest going to the Cleveland Art Museum to just walk around. It's an amazing structure and some very famous art work...Oh, and it has a bar where you can also get some great local beers!

Hoppin' Frog is on the south side of Akron along route 224 by the old Goodyear air docks. I used to pick up bottles there when visiting my folks in Uniontown, but they're pretty widely distributed now.

I'm in Erie pa. I second Fat Heads! However more in the Erie area I would say....

Lavery Brewing http://laverybrewing.com In downtown Erie

The Brewerie at Union Station. http://m.brewerie.com Also in downtown Erie.

I would check out Voodoo Brewing in Meadville PA. http://www.voodoobrewery.com It's about an hour south of Erie but you can get their beer in Erie.

There are others
Erie Ale Works
Erie Brewing
Millcreek Brewing Company
But the top 3 are my local favorites!

I'd check out Thirsty Dog in Akron and Brew Kettle in Strongsville (W Cleveland Area) as they both make many tasty beers!

Thank you all for the info! I will have to map some things out and try to make a game plan on which ones I can hit during my short trip.

I'll be near Meadville, PA later this summer with my father in-law (who is also into home brewing) so we will make a trip over there together!

Thanks again everyone!

Awesome!if you're in Meadville try Timber Creek Tap and Table. It's a local brewpub. A bit pricey but excellent food, beer, and service! My suggestion is bring a growler!

In the Canton area I recommend Canton Brewing Co. & Royal Docks Brewing.....avoid Scenic Brewing, their beers are awful.
Thirsty Dog in Akron is always a good choice, but they have limited hours so plan accordingly.
Hoppin' Frog is tasty, but very overpriced IMO.

So I made it to Canton Brew Co., Hoppin' Frog and Fat Heads this past week!! I really enjoyed them all. I may be back in Ohio again later in the summer. When and if I do make it back I will try to get to the other places.

Thanks again everyone for the suggestions.
