Hello, brewing tonight and using my new SS brew bucket... Question, how is the racking arm suppose to be positioned? Angled up towards the lid or down towards the cone? Thanx!! Visually it seems like a lot of beer would be left behind if positioned up.

According the the SS Brewtech website, align the the racking arm with the ball valve handle so that you know it's position when full, then position it horizontally when racking beer into the fermenter so that it does not clog with trub while doing so.

The idea is that you can rotate the ball valve and racking arm (clockwise only) while full, so that you can leave as much trub as possible behind.

I think the OP is wondering about the pickup tube orientation during fermentation.

The arm/tube should be slightly angled downward so that trub/yeast do not collect inside it during fermentation. Post fermentation when you are ready to transfer, you rotate it up to be more horizontal so that it's not picking up settled yeast during transfer.

When setting up your conical, you should align the racking arm with the valve handle in such a way that you know its orientation.
