Thinking about Perlick 650SS faucets for my very first ever keezer build. I have some questions:

How do you like it? Is the flow control worthwhile, or just a gimmick?

Is it true that if you turn the adjustment valve all the way to "off" that it stops all flow...even if the faucet is turned on by the handle?

(I ask the above because there does not currently seem to be any off-the-shelf solution for locking these faucets. I wonder if there's a way to do that using the adjustment lever and a removable zip-tie or something...my dog will empty my taps if I don't find a way to lock them!)

So, has anyone found way to lock these?

Anyone used the GT600 growler filler (or another alternative?) with them? How well does that work?:

Now for some dimensional questions:

What is the distance from the face of the keezer/kegerator to the (center of the) nozzle? Want to make sure my drip tray is wide enough.
(Maybe Perlick 630SS is the same size? If so, owners of that might give a measurement, too)

(Also, what is the typical diameter of the flange on a shank?)

I love me my perlick flow control. Have 2 and the only negative I have heard is they sometimes get a sulphur smell with acidic products like cider or wine. Bought a non flow control tap so I can swap it out when I first tap my cider if the problem emerges. I'll take some dims when I get home tonight and post them up for you.

Also, tap locks can be found here: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B000EH2RK0/?tag=skimlinks_replacement-20

Thanks for that. Don't foresee dispensing cider or wine from them. Looking forward to measurements.

Also, can you test to see if the flow control can FULLY shut down flow, even when the handle is pushed?

From my research, those locks don't fit the 600 series because the base of the faucet's handle (the barrel?) is fatter than on the 400/500 series. There is a lock made for the 600 series where the shackle part is a bit more flared to fit around the barrel:

But from my research they only work on the 630SS, because the flow control valve on the 650SS totally gets in the way of the shackle.

Dimensions from my taps are as follows:

Face of keezer to center of spout discharge: 3 3/8"

Does flow control completely shut off flow: yes, based on MY setup: beer lines, 3/16" x12', serving at 12 PSI.
