It was a compliment but it was cheap kit and the boy ran a pub that specialises in commercial brews. I just thought it was a bit depressing that my kit beer represents a 'good beer' to the bulk of people. There are much better beers out there and they would probably never sell.

Not anywhere near a 'real' but I'll have to admit for something to just sit and drink you could do a hell of a lot worse.

Lol. I gave my mate (Who is head brewer at a famous scottish brewery) 2 bottles of mead with the specific instructions to drink the small one now and the second one next year. Got an email from him the other day saying he'd drank them both! Stupid thing to do but a great compliment at the same time!

On 3 separate occasions I've given my brother in law a nut brown ale, hefeweizen, and an ESB. His comment on all 3: "Tastes like Sierra Nevada." WTF ? Yeah, the fact that none of them had any Cascade with completely different yeast and grain bills I can see the similarities...Idiot.

Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahah!!!!!!

I just discovered this thread. Im only up to page 16, and couldn't take it any more. I'll post some of my jems whem im done reading. If you had any idea the concentration of BMC drinkers who surround me.... Oh. I live in a college town.

Here's the 1st that comes to mind.

Between my buddy Noah who grows my hops & bar patron in mountain backwater bar. Noah drinks ALOT of my beer. He has the right, its mostly his hops so I have a captive taste tester.

Noah-"Bartender, what kind of beer do you have?"
BarT-"BMC"
Noah-"You dont have at least any Sam Adams, or Yeungling in a bottle"
----------(Note: we live in PA Yeungling is in PA)----------
BarT-"We have Bud Select, and Michelob"
Noah-"Just give me whatevers on your 1 tap(Bud)"
----At this point he begins to talk to some locals about the hop farm, and all the beers I
----brew with them, and can be brewed with them. Mentioning SamAdams, Yeungling,
----Victory, Troeegs, mostly Pa brewerys.
Local-"We dont drink that kinda stuff round here. We like domestic beer.
Noah-"What could be more domestic than beer brewed in my buddies basement?
........Blank stare.......
Local-"we make moonshine round here, not fancy beer"

haha yeah you've gotta love the "domestic" beer prices. Since when isn't a US owned and operated microbrewery "domestic?"

I had a dream last night that the all-american brewery with a bald eagle right in the logo was owned by some guys over in Belgium! Crazy world right! What a dream that was.....

Can't say I've had many "stupid" comments lately.

I did give my soon-to-be father-in-law a mixed sixer of some of my brews and he and his girlfriend drank them all in one night....then asked if he bought ingredients if I'd make him a batch!

I'm thinking of asking him to smoke some malt over cherry or applewood instead....brew up a nice smoked stout...
