Saving quicktime files (calling computer geeks)

Okay, so I'm in a jazz history course, and needless to say, a lot of the homework is listening. Everything is on the website as quicktime, which is just fine if you want to listen to them through the website. Thing is, I'd like to save these on my hard drive, but as far as I can tell, you need quicktime pro to do this, and that costs 30 bucks. Is there some sneaky way to get these on my harddrive without that software? Better yet, can they be converted to mp3?

Since when do you have to use quicktime pro to save qt files? just right click on the source link, and click 'Save As...'

That was the first thing I tried, and I got a dialog box that said I need qt pro to do it.

yeah, post the URL to the exact page. They may have some tricky code in place to protect the source .mov file.

you are correct that the free player does not allow you to click "File" "Save".
