It's a GT40, by Ford for the 24hr LeMans in the late 60's. A project by Henry Ford to annihilate Enzo Ferrari because of a bad business deal or something to do with Ferrari not selling his company to Ford. The three GT40's took 1st, 2nd, and 3rd... I think it as 1967.

My favorite muscle car is the 64 Fairlane - Thunderbolt

This was my 73 Formula Firebird... 400 ci bored 60 over Edelbrock manifold Holly 650 carb, Muncie 4 speed trans with posi rear end. Man I loved that car, had it topped out at 160+ (speedometer went to 160... could have been going faster) on the road between Laughlin and Las Vegas.

Wasting all that power lugging around a barge. Pity.

I'm thinking something more like this...

Buick GSX

Most people would never imagine Buick as a major player in the muscle car market. However, both in the 1970ís and the 1980ís Buick muscle cars were some of the fastest around and today they are some of the most sought after.

In the 1960ís Buick decided to create its own performance car after the success of the Pontiac GTO. The Gran Sport shared the same underpinnings as the GTO and Chevyís Chevelle. But, at that time, each division at GM still produced their own engines. The GS received Buickís Wildcat 400 cubic inch engine, which was a little larger and produced more torque than Pontiacís 389 cubic inch engine. However, the GTO was still faster because the GS was a little heaver and had a few more comfort features that appealed to Buickís more mature customers. Never ones to stand by, Buickís engineers went to work on this disparity and by 1970 the Gran Sport was a dominate performer. Motor Trend Magazine declared the GSX 455 Stage I the fastest car they had ever tested up to that time. This was one fast car, and with the wild paint schemes available, it was a car that received attention on and off the race track.

He's still my best friend, but now he drives a gray van with two baby seats!
