Default HD Radio - any comments

I just got an XM unit, and it is alot of fun to play with, but HI-FI it is not.

Has anyone listened to HD radio ? Seems a bit too expensive (The XM unit was only $40 - I couldn't resist) Stand-alone tuner is $200 (and I already have 3 non-HD stereo tuners !)

The XM is addictive - unlimited commercial free music .. but the sound is compressed and processed (so is FM, yes, but not as much)

Comments ?

I don't have HD radio but my local radio station has emergency "fallback" to it's HD sub-stations in the event of silence. Because of this, they play a "name that tune" game.

Anyway, sound quality wouldn't be my major impetus for buying an HD radio but the alternative programming. Much more indy stuff on HD.
