Default Honey Malt

Any of you used honey malt in a czech lager type recipe? Wondering what the taste would be like and how much to use.

Never used it before. Whats the flavor profile really like?

Was thinking of
8.8 lbs Canadian Prarie pils malt
.5 lb cara pils
.5 lb honey malt

Maybe .25 to .5 lb rye flake

Saaz hops bringing in about 45 ibu
To cold in the garage to lager so was going to use Nottingham at a lower than ale but not quite lager temp. (14-16 celcius)

Adds a definite sweetness. A little goes a LONG way. If I use it again, I won't use more than 1/4 lb., for sure.

That said, I like it. Adds a complexity that I like.

So I should drop that down to .25 lb instead then?

If I do then I think I'll use .5 lbs of rye flake with .25 honey malt.

See how that turns out.

I guess mash at what, 153F?

Totally up to your tastes. Some others may chime in and give input, as my opinion certainly isn't gospel. I think .5 is good--but I certainly wouldn't use more than that.

Yeah, if you use honey malt, mash lower.
