How would one go about embedding a youtube video in a forum post? I have seen several solutions, but none of them have worked :/ I tried copying / pasting the url, but it only shows up as a hyperlink when I preview my thread :/

Check the way you're posting them. My browser defaults to an https:// URL (don't know if that's my browser settings or YouTube itself), and if I copy and paste directly it's just a link. But take out that "s" and it embeds the video.
Does it show up when you preview your post?
I hadn't really looked before, but yes, it does.

Updating this post, it seems the new shorter youtube video (link) never previews? I had to actually open the video and get the full link (from browser window) before it showed up.

Just left click on the link in the little window at the top of the browser page. Then right click to bring up the options window & left click "copy". Then click on the little world symbol with the chain link on it to "paste" the link where you want it in your reply.
