So the first steps are complete.

This will be a almost fully automated brewery. PLC controlled with custom graphics on a touchscreen. Will use sanitary valves and connections as much as I can. Will use mass flowmeters on the MLT and BK to monitor temperature, flow and gravity on the fly.

What kind of flow sensors are you going to use? More pictures and a P&ID would be nice as well!

Flow will be sensed by the mass flow meters, as well as SG (density) and temperature all in one sensor.

P&ID on the way, need to convert Visio to display here and Im on my Mac so I can't do anything with the file.

Man, you must have money to burn if your using a Micro Motion Coriolis flow meter for home brewing!

or your works is upgrading plant and you have somehow convinced them they "need" new flow meters :D

could you upload bigger resolution P&ID, I don't see the letters. Thanks a lot :)

Well I got the brew coils last night and I installed the 5kw (20g) in the conical brew kettle.

The coil looks weird because I re-wrapped the coil one more turn to make it fit.

I really wanted that extra 500w so when I use the extention

I will have enough heating power.

Well, scrub the conical BK. Just too much of a PITA. So I will go back to a 1/2 bbl keg. Upside down do I can use the 2" sanitary connection, cut off the bottom, bought a 10" sanitary ferrel, cap and clamp. Going to put a 3/4 and 1" sanitary ferrel in the cap so I can pressurize the keg to move the wort.

Dry fit of MLT mass flow meter to HERMS heat exchanger, going to be fun to make it all fit.

Dry fit for the wort chiller/ O2 injection system

Control screen looks like it is coming along nicely. I prefer heirarchy in my designs from macro-micro in terms of process.

I love the way you have an overview with the ability to drill down to more detail. Great job!

Holy crap dude! I thought I was high tech with my 1 PID controller. Where about are you? I am in the South Hills.

Going to add this freebie, a 13kw instant tankless hot water heater. This will solve the lag time I may have after transferring strike water to the MLT and the reheat of the HLT with sparge water. At least I will have 150f water going into the HLT now, so only have to heat it up another 18-20f. Of course after I add Kmeta and salts.

Just got the Mash Tun loop plumbed up and lo and behold the Chugger pump is chugging away with some test water I'm recircing. My throttle valve will have be less than 10% open with this bad boy pumping.

Added the Blichmann brew coils. Yes I have 9kw of heating in the hot liquor tank and 5kw in the boil kettle. Also top of pressurizeable kettle lid.

Well, just got 2 of the 36" 1" sanitary tubes. In all I will have 4 vertical 1" tubes: Hot Liquor recirc, Hot Liquor to Mash Tun (sparge), Mash Tun recirc and Mash Tun to Boil Kettle (runnings). The chugger pumps move a good amount of water, impressive as a matter of fact.
Next is installing the HLT pump and flowmeter, then firing the HLT boil coils.
