hello, I was just curious what the reason for getting a pack of wyeast that is already bulging is? I hadent smacked it yet and could tell the packet inside was still unbroken. Does this mean it was exposed to high temps? could the yeast be contaminated? It was pretty hard to smack in this state, but i did end up getting it. I hope it goes well i used it in my pale ale:)

Which strain was the yeast?

I've been doing some reading about the American Ale strain for my next recipe and it has been known to expand, but no harm is actually done to the yeast itself. If the inner bag wasn't broken you should be good to go I think!
