Default Newbie Question - Good or Bad idea?

Does it make sense to strain the trub from the wort going into the Carboy? Or from the Carboy to Bottling Bucket?

I would say strain from the kettle to the primary. When you rack to the secondary and/or bottling, most of the trub should have settled out.

You want to try to strain/filter as much as you possibly can when you are going from kettle to primary.

After that you don't want to mess with it too much because you run the risk of oxidizing your beer which could produce some off tastes. Once it's in primary/secondary you will be able to rack off of your yeast cake and end up with a fairly clear brew if you follow the 1-2-3 method.

It depends how you are brewing.

If you are brewing extract then you will have no real trub. maybe some hops yes you can filter this.

From the fermenter to bottling bucket if you leave it long enough it will settle and you can leave it behind when racking.
