Thank you all. Typically I leave in the primary about a week or so, although this time around it sat in primary about 3.5 weeks, close to 4 (we had gone away for a bit). Then in the secondary for 2 weeks. This was my first porter I tried, and the end result was less amount that expected (as in how many 12 oz bottles were filled).

Either way, it smelled nice and now will wait for a while before sampling.

When doing 5.5 gal batches I lose about 1/2 gallon due to trub and fermentation/blowoff. So end up with 5 gallons at bottling which usually comes out to ~50 12oz bottles of beer.
