Default Brown Porter

Batch size: 5.5 gallons

8 lbs. 12 oz. Maris Otter
1 lb. Special Roast
10 oz. Chocolate Malt (UK)
8 oz. Crystal 40L

1 oz. Fuggles at 60
0.5 oz. Fuggles at 45
0.5 oz. Fuggles at 20

Mash at 152 Deg F for 1 hour.

90 minutes boil

Ferment with Nottingham for two weeks

OG 1.052
FG 1.012

Hop aroma is low and bitterness is very balanced. This porter has a fruity, bready, and malty character. Head retention is good and the beer was carbonated to about 2.3 volumes. The appearance is a dark opaque brown. Body is full and silky. Very clean aftertaste with a slight fruit to the finish. My goal was to get close to Taddy porter and this beer is very close.
