I just did my first 5 gal part grain batch on sat. All went well until I started to pour wert into fermenter bucket and remembered I forgot to dump out an inch or so of sanitizer. (DA) So I dumped it out and put rest of wert in and then added 2 gallons of cold spring water from the frig. second (DA)
Then I had to use blow dryer to get temp down to pitch yeast. I put it in fermenter box and its going strong OG was 1.30 low by 30. Today I stuck my nose in box still going strong. I have had contamination on a mr beer batch. I think it smells same as Mr. beer batch . Does anyone out there think you can smell contamination or do most fermenting brew smell similar.
