This is my basement brewery...I have a plug-in electric three tier system. The HLT has a 5500 watt element and the brew kettle has a 4500 watt element. The 5500 heats up the strike water in less than a half hour and the 4500 keeps the boil at a steady roll. It's pretty simple, but it was easy to build and brews fast.
