Can i use a food grade 55gal steel drum for a fermenter? It was used for welches grape juice

Yes it can be done I have seen several nano breweries using them, you may want to be sure that you have the ability to temperature regulate it (walk-in or fermentation chamber)

Absolutely. A neighbor friend of mine does that, works great. Just get one that has good seal on the bottom or it'll be a nightmare of a mess. Better yet, get one that is welded on (vs rolled).
