I finally finished motorizing my Crankandstein and wanted to give it a good test.

I picked an American wheat beer that used red wheat berries (the hard unmalted stuff) and put it to the test. I set the gap at .018" and put the berries to it. Worked like a charm - sweet crush. I fed them in slow for the trial run at that gap, but it went so smooth, I probably won't screw with things. An extra 2 minutes isn't much.

Looked nice in the carboy:

Pretty happy with it. Had a couple little hiccups, but nothing out of the ordinary.

Motor - $55
Bearings - $14
Pulleys - $16
Belt - $3
Spider/bushings - $10
Capacitor - $7

$105 total. I had the rest of parts laying around. Doesn't sound cheap, but when you take into account the type of drill I would have to buy to get the same results, I'm pretty pleased.
