I've been told, read a few different things on pitching yeast. I always used the liquied yeast. (sounds wrong.) Never using a starter. (maybe my problem?) I've read a few days after brewing, & right when the wort hits 70°. I'm about to brew a red/pale ale. 1 gal. (we'll see.) Using a dry yeast pack. Doesn't say anything about smacking it. Or starter, or letting it warm up, or anything. Just "sprnkle onto wort".

I've never made a starter or rehydrated or done anything else to my dry yeast. Just let it sit at room temperature while I brew and then dump it into the wort when I got to pitch temp. Ive had various issues with my beers but never one due to yeast.

It goes back to my A.B.V problem. I wrote on a few other threads. I just want to make sure I'm notkilling me yeast. I'm not getting a high read on my hydrmeter. Akways comes out low. I have plenty if grains. That has been established. I'm boiling for an hour. I'll cool it down to proper pitching temp 70° pitch, ferment for 2 weeks. Check deadings throughout 2 week fermentation period. Then go from there. My airlock would bubble fir the first 2 days or so. Then nothing.

Two days of bubbling, then a stop, are not that unommon. Bubbles mean nothing - use your hydrometer to know if fermentation is done.

Dry Yeast is really that simple. Open package, sprinkle on wort.

I do. Try. Always low. Maybe longer ferment longer?

I figured dry yeast is. I'm doing a 1 gal. Batch later. Red/pale ale for a friend. I usally try stouts. The flavor is great. All me friends tell me. Byt very, very low A.B.V.

Are you sure that the ABV is low? Some people mistakenly use the alcohol % column on the hydrometer, but that actually means "potential alcohol if you ferment all of this sugar out".

A packet of dry yeast is way, way more than you need for a 1 gallon batch. Just FYI.

My readings on my hydrometer are low Homebrewdad. My lasy reading. If it makes sense. Was 1.05. If I'm even saying that right. I don't think so.
