That is going to be bitter as hell. Not that I wouldn't love it, but I'd cut the bittering (90min) addition down to maybe 1oz of Warrior. Throw the Chinook in anywhere in the last 10 minutes for some nice pine and spice flavor.

I'd also skip the 90 minute boil and just do 60. You don't have anything there that requires you to spend another 30 minutes of your brew day boiling.

in the book jamil said that its similar to pliney and the ibu's listed are around 286. so I wasn't meaning to do a rip the face ipa. just patterning after a respected beer.

well now I'm concerned about the beer being undrinkable. again, its virtually the same as jamils pliney based IIPA. any IIPA experts or pliney fans want to comment on the hop schedule?

No way in hell is Pliny >200 IBU. I'd guess much closer to 100, which is plenty bitter.

It looks absurdly bitter to me as well......but tons of people brew Pliny clones and they are 200+ Ibus with those massive bittering additions and folks seem to love 'em.

Kal's 10gal recipe for instance: http://www.theelectricbrewery.com/fo...ic.php?t=25406

Personally I'd take an ounce off of each of the 90 and 60 minute additions and add them at flameout.

Is it really worth the price of all those hops? I mean, will you really enjoy those extra 100 IBUs? If so, knock yerself out!

that's awesome and helpful! Thanks!
I decided to drop the warrior and move the boil from 90 to 60. Now we're in the 160 IBU range.
