I have recently upgraded to a 15 gallon Megapot and may have outgrown my 20' Brewers Best 3/8 inch IC in the process. Does anyone have ideas on how to make it work or if there are alternate uses for it if I do upgrade to a 50' IC? I've seen where people have used one in a make shift HERMS system with a March pump, using it as a pre-chiller, or even running ice water through it using an aquarium pump. Any help would be greatly appreciated as I am planing my first AG next weekend.

-Thanks

Yeah, stick it inline with the water supply to your new chiller, put it in a bucket of ice water. It will have some cooling effect on the temp.

Or sell it.

For 15G I would consider a plate chiller.

Thanks Cyclman. Do you think a cheap aquarium pump recycling ice water through my current IC will have the same effect as running two?

I would go ahead and try the 20 footer. If your tap water is cold, it will work fine but will just take a little longer. Stir during the chill for beat results.

And yes, putting ice water through a small chiller is likely more effective than a larger chiller w tap water.

Rather than an aquarium pump you should use a fountain or pond pump they move a larger volume of water
