I've got about 15 batches of home brew under my belt. But now I have to fill the 32 wine bottles I've collected. So I figure a batch of muscato will get enjoyed by my whole family. Any tips on which brand is best, which yeasts to use, meta-by-sulphates, other chemicals yeast nutrients, OG/FG

Anyone sell Chilean grape juice by you? It will be available by April or so.

I live in NY but I think "wines with a twist" in Ontario canada might have it. Ill give them a call. Thanks. Anyone know if ec-1118 will work well with this juice? Or a diff yeast is more suited to a muscato.

Never made muscato but 1118 is a bit of a bulldozer. I'd probably go for D47.

I can't say much as far as what grape juice but I do know that many moscatos are around 5.5 percent alcohol and have some apricot added in. I am very sure they are back sweetened so you will need potassium sorbate. I like the 71b yeast but 47d will work also.

I got one of the Vino Italiano kits and it's sitting right now at 12.7% ABV, I'm not happy with that. I was wanting, like you said, around 5.5-6%. I intend to back sweeten heavily and include a tad of apricot and peach. I'm thinking next time I will sorbate the hell out of it when it get's to wear I want it.

Wine Expert is releasing a 10L Vintners Reserve World Vineyard California Moscato. It scored equal to Barefoot. Preorders being taken here with delivery in late March: http://brewandwinesupply.com/index.p...roduct_id=1374

RJ Spagnols did a Calif. Muscat kit this past year in their International line. But, I think it was a trial run. Their might be some still for sale.

Also, I would use Red Star Cote de Blanc, or Lalvin D-47.

Why the D-47? Does it not finish out as far as 1118? Cause that's what I used (in the kit) and I would agree with the bulldozer analagy. I went from 1.094 to 0.990. I would have liked it to finish off much sweeter.
