Default Toddler Pneumonia

My 1.5yr old has pneumonia, Doctor says it's viral, in both lungs. They put her on antibiotics because they say viral makes a child more susceptible to bacterial which is worse.

Anyone dealt with this, just goes away after a couple of weeks?

Yep. It's pretty miserable and pathetic to see, but it's also relatively common at that age. I can't remember all the details of when my son had it last year, but I think it stuck around for about a week or so. Viral pneumonia tends to last longer but be less severe, I believe, though of course every case can be different.

Good luck!

Best of luck. I don't know anything about it, but I'm sure it hurts as a parent to watch your child go through this. One of our friends is dealing with RSV in her 2 week old baby right now.

It's hell on a parent, but with good care they shouldn't be down too long. I'm glad I never had to go through it.

Yep, been there. Sorry to hear this is happening to you, but the kids get better really fast.

The irony is that when my daughter had this, she gave it to me. She recovered really quickly, but I was laid out for about two weeks! She wheezed a bit for a while, but otherwise really did fine after the first couple of days. She was 3 at the time.
