Just did my first brew today with my finally (mostly) complete RIMS set up. All I can say is electric is the way to go. Mash kept within .4 deg during the mash, close enough for me.

Still need to clean things up a bit and the minds always working on what could make it better.

Very nice. What element are you using in the rims tube?

I'm using a 220v 5500w folded element on 110v. Will have to pull it out to tell you the exact model#.

It is. I had to tweek the element so it (probably) doesn't touch the sides. No issues with it on the first brew. Now if buying again the 2" would be a much better fit.

Thank you.

Next step is to make the tun and kettle bottom drain to assist with cleaning. Trick is going to be a good hop filtering false bottom on the kettle.
