I am brewing the Austin Homebrew Blue Moon clone, but the total boil time in the instructions is confusing. It looks like they call for a total 45 minute boil. Is that right? I am still pretty new to brewing and all of the other kits i have done have been a 60 minute boil.

Yes, it is an extract. According to the directions, the first hop addition would have a boil time of 45 min.

well... you wouldn't want to boil your extract for the entire time,

not sure it's in your instructions, but add 1/3 your extract with that hop addition, then the rest of the extract with 15 minutes left

the hops need something more than just water to boil with & boiling all the extract will cause unwanted maillard (sp?) reactions

Thanks for the help. All of the Brewers Best kits i have done thus far call for boiling the extract for the full 60 minutes. I think I have this one under control now.
