I have an aluminum kettle that I'll be using for the first time tomorrow. I plan to boil water in the kettle tonight in order to build a passive oxide layer and I got to wondering... When I'm done prepping my kettle, will the water I used be okay to brew with?
I usually boil my brew water beforehand anyway to remove chlorine, and I was thinking there is no sense in dumping a kettle full of boiled just to boil more!
I just want to know if the building of the passive oxide layer will have any effect on the water in the pot?
It sure would make things easier if I could ready my kettle and my water all in the same motion.
