I just brewed recipe per post number 6. At 4 weeks, this is a great tasting beer. It actually came out of style for me, I hit 82 percent effiency by accident on it. I got a 1.058 OG on the recipe. The beer taste good, good lacing and head, great taste, high alcohol at 6.5 or so percent, with my abnormally high efficency due to stuck mash etc. It has really come around, this beer was kegged at 2 weeks, and I thought it tasted bad, it hit 4 weeks today and a buddy of mine was sniffing around the new keg!

I'm brewing this today with a few tweaks.
Adding a bit of black and upping most of the quantities a bit.

I'll report back with the recipe if it's good.

Tweaks were nice. Got rave reviews from ardent Ale drinkers and wine drinkers alike.

They are used to having good beers from me and they reckon his was one of the best. (It was good)

update Orfy!

PS: If you added some black and upped the other stuff you are dangerously close to my own porter recipe.
:mug:

I ain't putting it up unless I know it's better and I've brewed it at least twice.
There's no big changes. Like I say just tweaks.

I think it'll be several months until I post.

I just put this one in the fermenter. Based on Orfy's comments I upped the gravity to 1.050 and added a couple ounces of black patent. I had to sub Willamette for Fuggles.

Just tried mine and it's great! I'm glad I added the black because it would have been a little light otherwise I think. Thanks for the recipe Orfy.

Brewing this one today. Went with Golden Promise as the base, and I think I'm going to move 1oz. of the bittering hops to a FWH addition.

Mashing now, and it looks and smells delicious. But then, doesn't it always?

Would also love to hear back from Orfy about his "tweaks".
