I'm making a Cali Common with San Francisco lager yeast. Is a lager yeast starter made the same as an ale yeast starter?

Primary - Judge #2 Clayton Brown
Kegged - Cranberry Saision, Wet Hopped Blonde Ale, 2C Hoppy Wheat, Falcon Pale Ale, Mama's Yellow Pils

You may want to make a big one. Check and click on the calculator. I got one going now and needed a large starter...
