Default pid control

Hi, I'd like to switch to electric but I am noob when it comes to electricity. I'm trying to learn here !

First of all what I want is super simple : One kettle, one element and a way to control the power to the element. It will be used as a boil kettle so I don't need lights or switches I guess.

I believe going with a PID on manual would be the simplest way for me.

I've seen a lot of diagrams here about wiring those things but all of them are for complex systems unlike the one I want. Anyone here have a simple schematic for my idea ?

There are several threads explaining very simple setups. You'll also learning its best to have a couple switches for safety and equipment "element" protection. Here's a great build that's very detailed with lots of great pics. It's about as simple as you would want to get.

For simple single element control use one of these

It'll allow you to control power to element. I think it comes in higher wattage versions if needed. If you need specific temperature control just use an stc1000 without the dimmer controller
