Just had my first bottled beer (it was by mistake) but I gave a bunch of my beers away for gifts and it's supposed to remain unopened for a minimum of two weeks (according to the directions) but my neighbor comes over and says "you made this beer?" I said yes but you shouldn't open it yet, it's not ready! He says BS, try this. It was the best beer I have ever made hands down, it even rivals most beers you have to pay for. I'm keeping the rest of what I got left over for at least a month Bedford I crack another one open. If you like Guiness, this is a must make extract kit. I've made about 5 beers now and about 7 ciders and this has got to be my most proud brew.

The head was down at this point but it was a warm beer and has a chocolate light brown head. Very flavorful and smooth. I'll be getting two of these kits next and combining them

I rock the mason jar as well for my drinking glassware. And yes, this kit is pretty tasty!

I have some of the Lagunitas mason jars, but they are kind of small and don't really have that mason jar feel to them. Then again, they were only 3 bucks each

The beauty about mason jars is that they can be reused to store washed yeast. I also can starter wort with them so I don't have to boil every time I want to make a starter.

The true Beaty is not the storing of the yeast but the capacity of pouring two 12 oz. beers in one jar!!!!!!i keep mine in the freezer too, mmmmmm tasty stuff man. I only have 3,22oz. Bottles and 6 -12 oz bottles left of this batch. It's going to be consumed this weekend at the Morongo Casino!

Have you tried letting the beer warm a bit before drinking it? My stouts seem to have a lot more depth if I take them out of the refrigerator half and hour to as much as an hour before drinking them.

Some weeks ago, I was about to enjoy a "Coffee Stout" made by New Glarus Brewery. I took a moment to actually READ the information that Dan, the brewmaster, put on the label. His suggestion was to drink it at a cool room temperature. So I did that...and it was richly delicious. So, I thought I'd try that with one of my homebrewed Oatmeal Stouts and one of my homebrewed Deception Cream Stouts. Oh, my goodness! What an amazing difference the warmer temp made!

Now, if I'm going to have a stout of any persuasion, I will NOT put it in the refrigerator!
