Default Water treatment help!!

Hi all I'm just working out my water treatment, to do my calculations I need to work out the alkalinity of the water which I've got, but I'm confused as some people are using the alkalinity which in my case is 141 ppm and others using the calcium carbonate reading which in my case is 271 mg/l ppm. What one do I use?

Please help?
Thanks

You would be best served by asking this question in the Brew Science forum. There are some wicked smaht water gurus there that are very helpful in educating us water neophytes

Cheers!
