So I've been doing lots of experimental batches in 1 gallon jugs and have been using rubber stoppers with airlocks purchased from NB. The new stoppers have a really strong rubbery smell and when I recently bottled one of the batches the smell transferred to the cider. I'm hoping this ages out but how do I get rid of this smell o begin with from the stopper? I've tried running it under hot water hoping that would do something, but nada. Any ideas?
Primary: JAOM, RiceWine. Wine soaked raisin Apfelwein

Secondary: Skeeter Pee, Cyser, Tree Sap Cider,

Drinking: Milk Mead, Apfelwein, Grape Mead, Cranberry Pomegranate Cider, Cherry Berry Cider

Future: Strawberry/ Raspberry Cider , Apple Ginger Cider

Fine Vine Wines sells a Silicone universal stoppers dont smell like rubber, not sure if they have the right size for your jug, I tried one an a gallon jug today with that fits a #8.5 rubber stopper and it was to small. I use them for making wine, tossed out the rubber stoppers. WVMJ
